Our story

A practice in balance

SAMA was born from a simple belief: the tools we practise with should be as intentional as the practice itself.

Inspired by nature and designed for movement, our mats are created to bring balance, presence and connection into everyday rituals.

SAMA lives in the space between movement and stillness.

The meaning behind SAMA

Balance in everything

SAMA is a Sanskrit word associated with balance, harmony and equanimity.

It is the reminder that balance is not something we achieve once, but something we return to again and again, through movement, stillness and the way we choose to live each day.

The design process

From sketch to mat

As I began creating the Terra Collection, I realised I wasn't just designing yoga mats — I was trying to capture the feeling of being connected to something bigger than ourselves.

Nature has always been where I feel most grounded, so it felt natural that the first collection would be inspired by the Earth. I spent time studying landscapes, geological formations and the quiet lines that run through mountains, coastlines and rock faces. Those patterns became the foundation of each design, bringing a small piece of the natural world into every mat.

Each design starts as a pencil sketch before being developed digitally, preserving the character and movement of the original drawing.

Finished with earthy tones inspired by Sand, Forest, Moss, Slate and Earth, every mat is designed to encourage a practice that feels calm, grounded and connected.

Looking ahead

The journey continues

Future collections will explore the elements of Water, Fire and Air — each inspired by the forces that shape both nature and ourselves.
